WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul has instituted an Antitrust
Suit against the publishers and distributors of Library Editions
of Children� s Books, alleging a conspiracy to fix prices entitled
"City of Saint Paul , et al. v. Harper & Row Publishers, Inc. , et
a.l. n '
�
WHEREAS, The Independent School District No. 625 is also a
named plaintiff in the action against the publishers and distrib-
utors of Library Editions of Children' s Books; and
WHEREAS, The City has previously authorized settlement and
dismissal of minor defendants in this case; and
WHEREAS, Substantially all of the defendants have offered to
compromise these aetions by payment to the City of Saint Paul and
Independent School District No. 625 of a gross amount of not less
than �40,000.00; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Corporation Counsel ' s Office is hereby
authorized to accept the terms of said defendants ' offer for
settlement; an.d� be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Corporation Counsel ' s Office is
hereby authorized and directed to execute any and all necessary
settlement and dismissal documents on behalf of the City of Saint
Paul in said pending case.
