the Comptroller did report to the Cotuicil that additional
rev�nues are estimated to be received ia 1970 in excess of
estimates of reven�es adog� with the 197� Budget, as amended,

dedicated funds received from the State of Mianesota and th�
County of Ramsey, to be �sed onl�+ on street activities; and
WHER�AS, the Council finds that said estimated additional
appropriations are needed for various street activitie� in the
Department of Public Works, as hereinafter set forth, in order to
� maintain a level of se=vices essential to public health, aafety
and welfare of the City; now, therefore, be it

the budget when it was approved. These funds are dedicated funds
for street maintenance purposes.

Re: Amendment of the Budget
A resolution was passed in Council thia morning authorizing
certain amendment� to the 1970 City Budget. Pursuant to your
request, I hane prepared the form of Notice as required by Charter
Section 203.3. This Notice should be published no later than
May 16, 1970.
It should be noted also that Charter Section 203.3 prowide�
that a resolution amending the budget shall not be adopted until
after the public hearing has been held. Therefore, upon completion
of the public hearing on May 22, 1970, the resolution should be
ratified and adopted by roll call vote of the Council.
Please note also that Section 203.3 provides that the adoption
. of such resolution requires six affirmative votes. Ther�fore, the
Mayor and members of the Council should be made aware of tYtis fact
just in case �omeone is planning not to be at the Council meeting
on May 22.
