WHEREAS, the Minnesota WIld is a major asset for Saint Paul, making a substantial fmancial inveshnent
in Saint Paul, leasing the Xcel Center from the City of Saint Paul, and stimulating business creation, job
development and civic pride; and
WHEREAS, in 2003 the Minnesota Wild qualified for the National Hockey League Playoffs for the fsst
time, creating a maj or civic event and drawing national and intemarional attention to Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Wild offered an access credential for the Mayor and tickets for
Councilmembers, the Deputy Mayor, Senior Policy Analyst, and Director of PED; and
WHEREAS, attendance typically includes visits to private suites and offers of incidental food and
beverages;and
WIIEREAS, transportation was offered to the Mayor to attend a Wild playoff game in Denver;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council declazes the participation by official City
represernatives in these events serves the public purpose of supporting and showing commitrnent to a major asset of
Saint Paul, encouraging further development and commihnent in Saint Paul, and further enhancing Saint Paul as a
place to live, work, and visit; and
FINALLY RESOL VED, that the City Councii and Mayor, on behalf of the City of Saint Paul, hereby
gratefully aclmowledge and accept the gifts of such access, tickets, travel and incidental food and beverages, and
appropriate them for use by the proper City officials for the purposes stated above.
