Whereas, The Council of the City of Saint Paul h�.s
duly canvassed the returns of the votes cast at the City Special
�lection held in said Cit� on the 3rd day of November, 1970 upon
the ratification or re�ection o�' Ordinance No. 14616, Council
File No. 250l�.11, an ordinance imposing a l� Sales and Use Tax in
the City of 3aint Paul and providing For assessment, collection
and administration thereof, and
Whereas, It appears Prom said returns �.nd the canvass
thereof that 16,1O1 voted in favor of the ratification of said
ordin.ance, and 71,293 noted against the ratifica.tion thereof, and
Whereas, Sec. ].l�4 of the City Charter provides that a
majority of t he votes cast at t he election on the ordinance must
vote in fanor of the ratification of the ordinance before it
becomes effective, therefore, be it
Resolved, that the proposed Ordinance is hereby declared
to have received less than the necessary majority of v otes cast
on tha ordinance, and therefore has failed to be ratified and
adopted.
