WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Highways has suspended
landseape aetivities on federally aided highways
over the past several years, and large segments of
such highways in Saint Paul are lacking landscape
improvements scheduled for. this area, and
i�HEREAS, landscaping in the past has tended to have a very
small variety of plantings and often resulted in
repetitious patterns that did not add significant
amenity or environmental quality to �r► urban
highway system; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council of Saint Paul request
the Commissioner of Highways to resume landscaping
aetivities on the Interstate Highway system in
Saint Paul as soon as possible, and further that
all. landscape plantings include a variety of
plants , trees, shrubs of flowering or blossoming
types and perennial flowers.
