OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COUNCIL RESOLUTION—GENERAL FORM '�:'"�... � PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONE qTF � WHEREAS, The Omni us Crime Act (Safe Streets) provided for the establishment of Criminal Justice Councils in our major cities and metropolitan areas; and WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul in May 1971 established jointly with the County of Ramsey a �Criminal Justice Advisory Commission to bring together all the diverse elements of the Criminal Justice System to plan a unified program for prevention and control of crime in the City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County; and WHEREAS, This Criminal Justice Advisory Commission has met regularly since July, has hired staff following a commitment by the Governor' s Crime Commission to provide planning funds to the commission; and WHEREAS, This Criminal Justice Advisory Commission promises a creative and unified approach to law enforcement through representatives of all the agencies in the city dealing with police , courts and corrections ; and -<= - WHEREAS , Several millions of LEAA funds may be available for programs developed by the Criminal Justice Advisory Commission; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul supports the resolution passed October 27 by the Criminal Justice Advisory Commission objecting to the attempt on the part of the Governor' s Crime Commission to remove power of appointment of committee members and staff; and communicate this to the Governor and the Executive Director of the Governor' s Crime Commission .
