PAUL couNCa '� --- OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK F��E NO. ~ � CO NCIL RESOLUTION—GENERAL FORM ' PRFSENTED BY � �., COMMISSIONE _. - ATF � J WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioaers has been requested by the Saint Paul Environmental Quality Advisory Board to address a letter to the Execu�Cive D�rector of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency cn the question of purificatioa of the Mississippi River, and the Board of Water Commissioners has coacurred in such a request by its Resolution No. 2254, adopted February 26, 1971; now therefore be it RESOLYED that it is to the best interest of the City of Saint Paul that all measures to improve the quality of the Mississippi River be undertaken and tAat it supports the recommendations of The Saint Paul Environnental Quality Advisory Board aad the action of the Board of Water Commissioners in encouraging the Execntive Director of the M3nnesota Pollt�tion Control Agency to adopt the following measuresr 1. That the discharge of inercurq ia any amount from p,aper mills and any other sources on �he Mississippi R3�er upsLream fro� the C3tY of Sa3at Paul be prchibit�d. 2. That the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency survey the Mississ3ppi, River upstream fro� the CitY of Saint Paui �rat�r suppl� inta�ke £or seurces of rax sewage whose pathogenic bacteria and viruses cou7,d constitute a public health hazard. 3.
