WHEREAS, The City Council passed Section 9 A 3 of Ordinance
No. 3250 effective January 1, 1 g65, indicating its intention to allow
dev-iations from the general overtime rules, which states:
"To meet unusual conditions, and in the case of certain seasonal
employees whose total yearly hours do not exceed 2088, upon
request of the department head, a di£ferent schedule may be
established for particular groups of employees with the approval
of the Civil Service Commissioner and approval of the Council
by resolution. "
and
WHEREAS, Unusual conditions exist in the Department of Education
in that the Department wants to conduct evening in-service trai.n.ing
programs at one location at the same time for all its cooks and cook-
managers who work in all the various schools throughout the City; now,
therefore, be it
� RESOLVED, That the Department of Education be allowed to pay

athese kitchen employees at the regular hourly rate regardless of the
