1 WHEREA.S, section 12.12.1 of the Saint Paul City Charter provides that upon receipt of a nouce of a vacancy for
2 the position of Fire Clue� the Council shall establish the minimum qualifications for the position and appoint an
3 Examining Committee designated as the Fire Chief Exam;n;ng Committee, and
4 WFiEREAS, the Council and the Mayor have atready selected members of this committee; and
5 WHEREAS, this committee cannot make recommendations to the Mayor untii the ordinance establishing the
6 committee (CF # 03-100) becomes effective on Apri12, 2003 at the earliest; and -
7 WHEREAS, a timeline has been established to make the hiring process as efficient as possible, with the intenrion of
8 hiring a new Fire Chief in May of 2003; now therefore be it
9 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council requests that the Administration post this position with the Council
10 established minimum qualifications upon the Mayor's approval of CF# 03-99; and be it further
11 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council re�uests the Fire Chief Examining Committee begin meeting for the
12 purpose of establishing internal committee mles, a completion time line, choosing committee leadership and
13 reviewing applications received to date.
