- RE: Surriner Children's Theatre Program
On Wednesday, May 19, Gary Parker and I met with IIrs. Klein t dis-
cuss the touring children's theatre program in the libraries for the
surrmer. The program we described would consist of one play in two
parts, presented at each of the 11 St. Paul Public Lit,raries. The
perfarmances would be during the last two weeks of July and the first
week of August. We suggested two perfo nnances on two different days
in order to build an audience between the first and second visits.
This will mean a more exciting program with more children involved.
This format worked well for the program this group old in hiinneapolis
parks.

, It was sugyested to us that we gear the play to the upper grades (5- _
8 grades) since the younger children seem to always attend. The acting
company will be made up of students from all over the Twin Cities.
We discussed printing a flyer that would descrit the alay and list
the dates of al l the performances. Gary Parker wi 11 be w:r•ici ng tivi th '

rrill also go to each of the libraries, talk witn tne lirarans, and
look at the spaces available.
The budget is the same we discussed: 2500.. Tn ontract we set up
will be between the St. Paul Council of Arts and Sciences and the St.
Paul Public Libraries. Mrs. Klein will describ co me the correct
billing procedure for this project.
