WHEREAS, Northern States Powe= Company has applied to the City
of Saint Paul, by petition dated July 23, 1971, for an increase
in its gas rates in connection with the operation in the City
of Saint paul and pursuant to the provisions of the Permit
Ordinance No. 14786, Council File No. 253491, approved May 13,
1971, and accepted June 25, 1971; and
WHEREAS, it is within the authority of the City Council to
appoint a hearing exaxainer for the purpose of conducting a full
scale hearing in connection with said petition, and the appoint-
ment of Robert J. Sheran, 1988 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul,
Minnesota, as such examiner has been recommended by the Utilities
Committee and approved by this Council; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul
does hereby appoint and name Robert J. Sheran as hearing examiner,
and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed
to enter into an agreement with said Robert J. Sheran to accomplish
the foregoing appointment; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the first mee,ting of the above named
examiner with the interested parties be called on January 13,
1972, or as soon thereafter as the parties are available for
