1 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORiZING A GRANT FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD

NEIGHBORHOOD PUBLIC ART MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM
4 WHEREAS, public art represents a means of strengthening community identity, enlivening the public realm and
5 supporting artistic expression; and
6 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council desires to support the creation and installation of public art throughout
7 the city; and
8 WHEREAS, the Neighborhood STAR Board will, at its January 2004 meeting, review a proposal that $160,000
9 from the Neighborhood Investment Initiative Program be granted to Public Art Saint Paul to create the
10 Neighborhood Public Art Matching Grant Program; and
11 WHEREAS, Public Art Saint Paul has agreed to establish and administer such a program, including raising the
12 matching funds require by the STAR Program;
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes a grant from the
14 Neighborhood Inveshnent Initiative Program to Public Art Saint Paul in the total amount of $160,000; and
15 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Neighborhood STAR Board review this request at its January 2004
16 meeting prior to the execution of a contract between the City and Public Art Saint Paul or the expenditure of
17 funds.
