3 WHEREAS, Christopher B. Coleman has catried on a family hadifion by serving with distincrion as an elected official in Saint Paul, having been elected
4 the Councilmember for Ward Two in a landslide viaory (he was unopposed) in November, 1997; and
5 WHEREAS, Chris has been a thoughtful, compassionate, and tenacious member of the City Council who brought an Irish wit and gift of gab that
6 sometimes enlightened the discussion, occasionally raised the level of passion, but most always contdbuted to civil�ry and mutual respect, even when
7 he ended up on the short end of the vote, which he did annually trying to set the taY lery a little bit above the absolute minunum so that there would be
8 an opportuniry to azgue about something during the uduous budget discussions each fall; and
9 WHEREAS,ChrishaspromotedaspecialappreciationfortheSazntPauPshistory,fightingpassionatelyandsuccessfullytosavethehistoricConeyIsland
10 Restaurant and Bar, even if there hasn't been a single coney island produced there in the last decade; and
11 WHEREAS,Chrishasbeenatenaciousneighborhoodadvocate,promotingrigorousplanning,qualityurbandesignandacommihnenttopublicart,while
12 battlingthe devastating impacts ofthe counry's onlyurban ethano] plant, ill-conceived big-box or fast food developments and stand-alone pazkingramps;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Chris was an enthusiaspc promoter of community life in Saint Paul, including running the Twin Cities Maza[hon and the Rice Street Mile,
15 kicking off the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, never missing a Lowertown Art Crawl and being willing to don his kilt and play his bagpipes at civic
16 events;
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby xecognize and commend Councilmember Chns Coleman for
18 his yeazs of service to the residents of Ward Two, and the City of Saint Paul, and be it
19 FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council sincerely appreciates Chris' feisty nature, his genuine ]ove for Saint Paul, and even his inquisitions of
20 those who appeazed before the City Council without doing their homework, and
21 BE IT, FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the Ciry of Saint Paul thanks Chris Coleman for his dedication to the public good and his many
22 contributions to ihe City Council, the City of Saint Paul, and the State of Minnesota as an elected ]ocal official for the past six yeazs.

1 RESOLUTION HOIVORING JAN KERAN FOR $ER YEARS OF SERVICE AS THE LEGISLATIVE AIDE FOR WARD FIVE
2 WHEREAS, Jan Keran served the citizens of the City of Saint Paul and Wazd Five as a committed and dedicated Legislative Aide to
3 Councilmember Jim Reiter since January of 1998, and
4 WHEREAS, Jan's good humor, pleasant personality, and competence made her a pleasure to work with and an effective collaborator with
s the late Councilmember Reiter, and
6 WHEREAS, Jan is the type of person who eschews public accolades preferting to work quietly behind the scenes with little or no public
7 recognition,and
8 WHEREAS, the City Council believes that it is important not only to recognize Jan's many contributions to the City and Ward 5, but to
9 also recognize and commend her for her attitude and cooperarive spirit as an ideal that other public employees would do well to emulate,

1 WHEREAS, Jan has conducted herself with dignity and respect during the especially difficult period following the untimely death of
z Councilmember Jim Reiter, now therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby recognize and commend Jan Keran for her work as the Legislative Aide to
a Councilmember Jim Reiter, and be it
5 FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council wants to make special menrion of Jan's cooperarive spirit, pleasant attitude, and her quiet and
6 effecrive mu�ner, and, be it
7 FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul on behalf of the late Councilmember Jim Reiter, wishes to thank and
