03-174����f��Ae Presented By Referred to Committee: Date WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources through its Federal Recreafion Trail Program grant application process has made funding available for trail renovation projects; and 10 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Divasion of Parks and Recreation is an eligible applicant and desires to submit an application to the Department of Nahual Resources on February 28, 2003, in the amount of $70,000 for the renovation of trails in Frost Lake, Swede Hollow and Marydale parks; and WHEREAS, maintaining bicycle and pedestrian trails in proper condition is essential to the safety and enjoyment of trail users; and 11 WHEREAS, the trails in Frost Lake, Swede Hollow and Marydale parks have been 12 assessed as being in poor condition by the Division of Parks and Recreation, Operations Section; 13 and 14 WHEREAS, acquisition of DNR Federal Recreation Trail Program funding would enable 15 the Division of Parks and Recreation to undertake needed renovations on the aforementioned 16 trail sites; now, therefote, 17 BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul act as legal sponsor for the Frost Lake, Swede 18 Hollow and Marydale trail renovation projects contained in the National Recreation Trail Program grant 19 application to be submitted on February 28, 2003, and that the Mayor and proper City officials are hereby 20 authorized to apply to the Deparhnent of Natural Resources for funding of this project in the amount of 21 $70,000 on behalf of the City of Saint Paul; and 22 RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MfNNESOTA Council File # 03 -1`ly Green SheeC # _110070_ �?
