SCHNARR CITY OF SAINT PAUL .10HN B. LAPOINTE Chief Engineer Deputy Commissioner Capital of Minnesota DEPARTMENTOF PUBLIC WORKS 234 City Hall & Court House 55102 ROBERT F. SPRAFKA Commissioner December 16, 1970 Honorable Mrs. Rosalie Butler Commissioner of Finance City of Saint Paul Re: S-0990 Dear Mrs. Butler: I transmit herewith preliminary estimate of cost for regrading and surfacing with bituminous material Pascal Street from Jefferson Avenue to Stanford Avenue, including the Wellesley Avenue intersection under Preliminary Order 251426, approved December 4, 1970. Estimated Construction Cost $6,562.00 Engineering and Inspection 656.00 Total Estimated Cost $7,218.00 (ncluded in Sewer Contract $2,406.00 City Aid (Long Side) 1 ,203.00 To be Assessed 3 609.00 7,21 .00 $7,— 20 The above project is within the limits of the S-0990 JEFFERSON-SARATOGA SEWER SYSTEM. When a sewer is constructed in an oiled street, the nomal procedure is to excavate a trench ten feet wide at the top centered on the sewer alignment. The street is then restored to its original crown and surface. This street has an unusually high crown and for a nominal additional cost, this crown could be corrected and the street surfaced for its entie width with a hot mix bituminous pavement. If this is done, the sewer contract would finance 1/3 of the regrading and sufacing costs with the other 2/3 being financed by assessments and long side aid. '- Yours truly, _ William E.
