The owners of record are Ceorge and Mary Boosalis and the legal description of the property is Lot 15, Block 10, Holcombe's Addition. The building is a two story duplex of frame construction with a garage at the rear. The exterior of the building is covered with an imitation shingle siding, The exterior trim and cornice has deteriorated and rotted to the point that portions are falling off. One of the two chimneys has deteriorated to the point that several bricks have fallen and others appear ready to fall. All of the windows have been broken, including both glass and sash. A rear outside wooden stairway is rotted to the point of being hazardous. The interior of the structure has been totally vandalized from basement to attic. The plumbing, heating and electrical systems have also been badly vandalized. The garage at the rear is open at present, as is the back door and east basement window of the house, although the house was secured by the owner in September. This department has been contacted by the owner, Mr, George Boosalis, who indicated. that he was in the process of selling the property. However, on December 9, 1970 we were informed that the contemplated sale was not consummated, and as of this date, we know of no plans for rehabilitation of the property, nor has a permit been issued for repair work. In our opinion the dwelling in its present cond.ition is borderline as to being economically feasible to repair, and appears to be a blight to the neighborhood.. The garage structure, while needing only minor repairs, would constitute an attractive nuisance if it remained on the lot if the dwelling were removed. We therefore are including it in our recommendation for razing. / ;,, .-, , .. ....., r s . . , Hon. Charles McCarty and Members of the City Council -2- December 30, 1970 Inasmuch as the foregoing cond.itions constitute a public hazard and the owner has made no attempt to satisfactorily rehabilitate the structures despite our warriings, it is the recommendation of the Bureau of Public Buildings that this matter be referred to the City Attorney's office for razing through court proceedings. e tr u s, obert L, mes City Architect R LA/mf s cc: Mr. J.
