WHEREAS, there is certain tax-forfeited land withheld f`rom sale in
the City of St. Pau1 at the request of the Depaxtment of Public Works
and the Department of Paxks and Recreation and Public Buildings.
WHEREAS, said Departments state they no longer require said tax-
forfeited land withheld f`rom sale for their purposes.
WHEREAS, the Land Commissioner's Office has requested the City of
St. Paul to release said tax-forfeited land withheld fram sale.
WHEREAS, said City Departments having no objection to the release
of said lands, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of St. Paul approve the
release of the following tax-forfeited land withheld from sale;
The east 10 feet of the south 125 feet of the followin�:
(Except the east 110 feet of the south 125 feet and except
the east 120 feet north of the south 125 feet), the east
1�2 of P,ot 12, Block 2� Rifle Paxk Addition.

Re: Ex. the E 110 ft. of the S 1.25 f`t. and ex. the E. 120 ft. N of
the S 125 ft.� the E 1�2 of lot 12, Block 2, Rifle Park Addition
Deax Sirs and Madam:
It was requested by the Land Commissioner's Office that this department look
into the feasibility of releasing for sale a ten (10) foot strip of subject
tax-forfeited land as shown shaded in red on the attached plan.
The request is made to provide access to the rear of the property fronting on
Conw�a.y Street abutting subject property on the east� reference attached
letter �om the Land Commissioner.
Subject la.nd was originally withheld from sale at the request of the Depaxt-
ment of Public Works as a snaw dumping site and the Depaxtment of Pa.rks,
Recreation and Public Buildings as a Playground site.
The Department of Public Works reports said release would not affect its
operation and recommends said ten (10) foot strip be released,
The Parks Department reports it would not be adversely affected by said re-
lease.
Therefore, I recommend that s�id ten (10) foot strip of tax-forfeited land
be released for sale and the attached resolution be approved by the City Council
as bein� in the best interests of the City of St. Pa.ul.

Dear Commissioner:
This office has received a request from Peter W. Giefer, 1197 Conway ;t. that
a ten foot strip of the above noted t�.x forfeited land which ad�oins his property
be offered for sale. It is now withheld i'rom sale for a �now dump and possibl.e
play�round purposes.
A large portion of the tax title land .is r�, deep ravine, but the easterl,y 30 or 40
feet is on grade with trie Giefer propert,y. Mr. Giefer cuts the grass r�nd keeps
the area free from debra.s.
The ten foot strip is required for a drivewa,y. An error wa.s made in the surve,y
when the C.iefer home was built and insuf£icient sideyard was provided for a.ccess
to the rear of the lot, a�hich is the only place where a �arage can be erecte�l.
There is no al.le,y.
A member of our staff has in�pected this area and we believe that releasint� thi�
str.ip of land far sale to Mr, Gief'er would correct the situation. A sketch of
the area is attached.
