AMES, City Archi+ect 445 City Hall, 55102 223-4212 May 18 , 1972 Honorable Charles McCarty, Mayor and Members of the City Council Re: 788 Marshall File #2007 Gentlemen: The Bureau of Public Buildings is hereby submitting its report on the condition of the structure at the above location. The owner of record is John E. Blomquist, Inc. and the legal description of the property is Lot 2 , Block 2 , Nininger and Donnelly's Addition. This is a two story frame duplex, 51 ' x 28 ' . This building has been vacant since August 5 , 1970 and has been broken into several times since the city securred it by boarding up the openings on March 30, 1971. The exterior is in a deteriorated condition. Approximately 50% of the exterior paint is peeling. Some of the wood siding and trim has fallen off exposing the wall sheathing. The chimney has loose bricks . Inasmuch as the conditions outlined above constitute a public hazard, and the owner has made no attempt to satisfactorily repair the damage despite our warnings , and the continued vacant and boarded up condition contributes a blighting influence on the neighborhood, it is the recom- mendation of this bureau that this matter be referred to the City Attor- ney' s office for razing and removal through District Court proceedings. er tru ur Robert L. e City Architect RLA/RJP/gd cc: Messrs.
