AMES, City Architect 445 Cify Hall, 55102 223-4212 May 4, 1972 Honorable Charles McCarty, Mayor and Members of the City Council Re : 627 St. Anthony Ave. File #2134 Gentlemen: The Bureau of Public Buildings is hereby submitting its report on the condition of the structure at the above location. The owner of record is Jerome A. Kelley and the legal description of the property is Lot 29, Block 11. Butterfield Syndicate Addition Number 1. This is a 2 story frame duplex 24 ' x 50 ' x 22 ' built in 1899 . The porches and stairways are rotted. Parts of the roll roofing are missing. Asbestos siding is cracked and pieces are missing. The gutters and downspouts are rusted through and missing. Doors , windows and their frames are rotted and broken. The rubble stone foundation is in need of pointing. Although we asked the owner' s permission, our inspector has not been able to gain access to the interior. There is evidence that there has been a fire since the house has been vacant. The Housing and Redevelopment authority is not interested in this property. The subject property has been boarded up by the city since June 17 , 1971. Inasmuch as the conditions outlined above constitute a public hazard and the continued vacant and boarded up condition adds to the blighting influence on the neighborhood and the owner has made no attempt to satis- factorily repair the damage despite our warnings , it is the recommendation of this bureau that this matter be referred to the City Attorney ' s office for razing and removal through District Court pr cee ings . ery o , Robert . s RLA/RJP/gd City Architect cc: Messrs.
