As you know, the $25.2 million will be uce to replace the 20 school's that do not meet the regulations stipulated in Counci:L Ordinance 14790 (Council File No. 253$1.6), and to purchase land for secondary school on the West Side and in the Summit Univer- sity area. The recommendation for the bond issue came from the Umbrella Committee (a group of citizens representing 45 oranizations i.rom various parts of the city), and the plans for how the 20 schools will be replaced were worked out with the area plannin committees comprising citizens from the affected ares. To date we have received the endorsements of the Chamber of Commerce, the Trades and. Labor Assembly, the Board of Realtors, the Leaue of Women Voters, the St. Paul Council of PTAs, the St. Paul School Committee, the Fourth District DFL, and the Republican Party, to name a few of the larger groups. We are hopeful that the City Council will likewise lend its suppori,. Yours truly, _w._,. L. ✓ I Aileen Cooper Y O C T 2 g 1972 - oFCE o oSUE L.
