WI3EREAS, the city has an oppommity to receive the same Family Housing Fund grant that Minneapolis has
received for its city-initiated Tenant Remedies Actions; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Citizen Services, Division of Code Enforcement, has determined that city-initiated
Tenant Remedies Actions aze an important component of the strategy to close-down problem properties, and
this Family Housing Fund money is an essential component of that strategy; and
WHEREAS, the grant is for $200,000 far the purpose of initiating Tenant Remedies Acfions.
10 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute agreements with the
11 Family Housing Fund to accept and implement said grant.

The opportunity exists to accept $200,000 from the Family Housing Fund to be used in city-initiated tenant
remedies actions whenever the subject property lacks sufficient revenues to repair code violations and/or pay the
administraYive costs of property receivership.
AdvantageslfApproved:
IYs "free money" to the City with no down sides, no added costs. The money will be used to improve the city's
existing housing stock and preserve affordable housing units that othenxise would be in dilapidated condition. It is
an essential component in cleaning-up or closing-down problem properties and will reduce city spending on
problem properties.
