The Council of the City of St. Paul havY�tg received the report of the Commissioner of Finance
upon the above improvement, and having considered said report, hereby resolves:
1. That the sa,id report and the same is hereby approved and adopted, and the said improvement .
is hereby ordered to be proceeded with.
2. That the nature of the improvement which the Council recommends is
to condemn and take an easement in the land neces�ary for the slopes, cuts and
fills, including right of removal of lateral support from subje�� la�ii� or remainder

thereof, occasioned by construction of slopes in constructing concrete sidewalk
on the West side of McKnight Road from Inter:tate �k94 to Third Street,

with no alternatives, and that the eatimated cost thereof is � 550.00

Resolved Further, That a public hearing be had on said improvement on the 21St day of
June, 1972 , , at the hour of 10 o'cicek A.M., in the Council Chamber of the Court
House and City Hail Building in the City of St. Paul. That the Commissioner of Finance give notice of
said meeting to the persons and in the manner provided by the Charter, sta,ting the time and place of
hearing, the nature of the improvement and the total cost thereof as estimated.

This order is before the Council in conjunction with the construction
of a concrete sidewaik on the west side of NcKNIGHT RD. between 3rd St.
and I .S. 94.
The walic will be constructed under the Ramsey County Project (SP62-E�F8-11)
to improve McKnight Road from I .S. g4 to 3rd St.
The �ngineering reconxnendation is for approval of the order.

This order is before the City Council on the basis of public necessity.
The new Battle Creek Junior High Schooi located at �'orth Park �rive and
4linthrop Street qerves the eastern part of St. Pa�ul southerly from St111water Ave.
to the south city limits. I .S. 9A creates a bar�ier that separates the area
served by the Jr. High School . The only points that -I .S. Q4 can be crossed k�y
school children who live north of I .S. 94 are at the Ruth Street bridge and at
McKnight Road. McKnight Road is one-haif mile east of Ruth Street.
The concrete sidewalk as proposed on the west side of �9cKnight Road from
I .S. 94 to 3rd St. is propsed to be constructed under a cont�act to be tet by
Ramsey County (S.P. 62-668-i1) for the improvement of �1cKnight Road from I .S.
94 to 3rd St.
The Engineering recortmendation is for approval of the order.
