3 WHEREAS, consideration of a recent special condition use permit application revealed an ambiguity in the
4 zoning code relative to recycling processing centers that handle rock, asphalt or concrete; and
5 Wf�REAS, the attached proposed amendments designed to clarify the provisions of the code have been
6 prepazed for City Council consideration; and
7 WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Sec. 462357 Subd. 4 provides that amendments to a zoning ordinance may be
8 initiated by the governing body and that any amendment so initiated sha11 be referred to the planning agency for
9 study and report;
10 NOW, TFiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council transmits the attached amendments to the Saint
11 Paul Planning Commission for its study and report; and
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council requests thai the report be completed within 90 days of the
13 passage of this resolution.

1 WHEREAS, the Como Zoo and Conservatory Society, a non-profit organization
2 dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Como Zoo and Como
3 Conservatory, is holding a golfing tournament benefit on Monday, August 12,
4 2002; and
S WHEREAS, several concessionaires and food vendors have generously offered to
6 assist in this event to further its success and have offered to donate the cost
7 of admission for a golf foursome to be used by City officials and staff; and
8 WHEREAS, the presence of elected City officials and City staff will be an
9 opportunity to enhance the working relationship between the City and Como Zoo
10 and Conservatory Society, and will show appreciation for their fund-raising
11 efforts;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul
13 hereby accepts the thoughtful invitations to the event and appropriates them to
14 the usage of City officials and staff; and
15 FIIRTHER RESOLVED, the Council hereby declares a public purpose in the
16 acceptance of invitations in acknowledgment of the good work of the Society in
17 furthering the continued usage and success of the Como Zoo and Como
18 Conservatory; and
19 FINALLY RESOLVED, thaC the Council expresses its thanks and appreciation to the
20 Society and supporting vendors and concessionaires for the staging of this
21 worthwhile public promotion and benefit.
