Dear Sir:
At the time it was proposed to construct the Primate House at the
Como Zoo, funds provided in the Capital Improvements budget were insufficient
to finance the project.
In order to get the necessary funds, two resolutions were adopted by
the City Council. C.F. 244566 established a ten cent (10) admission charge.
C.F. 244567 committed this admission charge to fully fund the cost of construction
of the Primate House. As a further guarantee, the resolution provided that
should admission fees be insufficient, the net profits of the Park Refectories
were pledged to fully fund the project after two years.
The total cost of construction of the Primate House was $154,532.09.
Financing to date is as follows:
Total Costs $154,532.09
Capital Improvement Bond Funds $69,500.00
Admission Fees 1970 $11,512.85
" " 1971 19,528.85
Total Admissions to 12/15/71 $31,041.70
Total Financed to Date $100,541.70
Balance Remaining $ 53,990.39
In view of the suc.cess of this ten cent fee charge and the fine cooperation
received from your department, I would like to recommend a three year extension
of this financing program. A proposed resolution effectuating this recommendation
is attached for your submission to the City Council.
Respectfully submitted,
