WHEREASt The Committee on La.nds is presently considering the
advisability and feasibility of disposing of a portion of the
City real property presently set aside for the site •f the pro�
posed Fire Training Academy� and the Committee ha.s requested tha.t
the City Council authorize the Commissioner of Finance to obtain
two appraise_rs for the purpose of providing the Committee with
necessary information concerning the value of the land presently
owned by the City and land presently under consideration by the
Committee for acquisition; and
WHER�AS� Malan Construction Company has offered to reimburse
the City of Saint Paul for its costs incurred in obtaining the
appraisals, and t�e Commissioner of Finance does rec�mmend tha.t the
City Council obtain two competent appraisals; now, therefore� be it
RESOLVED� That the Council of the �ity of Saint Paul does
hereby concur in the recommendations of the Committee on Lands and
the Commissioner of Finance� and the Commissioner of Finance be and
is hereby authorized to hirei retain and employ two real estate
appraisers for the purpose of appraising the real property presently
being considered by the Commi�tee on La.nds; and all costs ineurred
f�r said appraisals may be cha.rged to Public Safety Real Estate
Fund 3100� subject to the City�s beirig reimbursed for its costs
incurred herein per the offer made by Malan Construction Company.

K-Mart and City of Saint Paul
Dear Commissioner Butler:
Pursuant to our oral representations and as outlined in the written
proposal of February 8, 1972, ti�e undersigned, as attorney and agent
for Malan Construction Company, developer of K-Mart Discount Stores ,
Division of S. S. Kresge Company, Detroit, Michigan, I am authorized
to offer payment for the cost of two independent appraisals, which
appraisers shall be picked by and under the direction of the Depart-
ment of Finance of the City of Saint Paul, for the appraisal of the
parcels of land on Snelling Avenue across from Midway Stadium.
The land in question is all of the land which is the subject of a
proposed land exchange by and between K-Mart and the City of Saint
Paul. Precise legal descriptions of the said properties shall be
furnished directly to the Department of Finance.
