WHE ' Mons ' nor Louis Francis Pioletti, was born in Turin,
Italy, in 18 ; 'ordained in June 1910 ; was instructor in moral theology
in a college at urin; then served three years in the Italian army in
World War I , for hich he was decorated by the Italian government; in
1923 and 1924 attended the pontifical college for foreign missions in
Rome; then came to the United States of America in 1924; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Pioletti was in 1925 appointed pastor of the
Holy Redeemer Church, 74 West College Street, and the Church of St. Ambrose
in the East 7th-Payne Avenue district, both predominantly Italian; and
WHEREAS, during the ensuing 33 years, Monsignor Pioletti was
consistent and persevering in his cnntributions to the general welfare
and spiritual well being of the parishioners , was responsible for
renovation of the Holy Redeemer Church, payment of debts , improvements
of a new organ, altar, statues and modern auditorium;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the City Council, on behalf of its members and
on behalf of the citizens of the City of Saint Paul, for whom he devoted
the greater part of his life, hereby through this resolution expresses
its thanks and appreciation for his many years of excellent, dedicated
and devoted service to the entire community; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council does hereby desire
to recognize Monsignor Pioletti by naming in his honor the Housing and
Redevelopment Authority High Rise building located on Wabasha and Exchan�e
Streets in the area formerly oecupied by the Holy Redeeraer Church.
