Dear Mrs. Butler:
I am' the owner Of "lOb@:f1r at 1657--69 Dieter Street, an
area borderd by Idaho _:d La.rreteur, where sidewalks
have been proposed anc? are ,a:ding under Preliminary lJrder
258502. This order irras a:oved rIaY 5, 1972.
I would like to officia7_lr re,ister my opposition ta this
action.
To list all iny reasons at thiU point would take u too
r:luch of your valuable tirle, ut T tivill rnention a ;'few:
( 1 ) The area concerned by this preliminary ai^der is
only one block lon and therefore is travelled
any by resa.dents,
(2) This area has been populated for thee yers and
there hasre been no accidens or close ca13s" to
date,
(3) This particular area is approxiinately 70% rental
property, with most people stayin a relatively
short period of tme.
(4) Since this proposl tivas made known, a vast major-
ity of -the property otirners have spoken out aainst
it,
I feel confident that the above reasns, along with a petition
against the proposed improvement and sined by a substantial
number of Dieter Street residents, wi11 influence your very
important decision.
Thank you for your consideratior.
. Very truly nurs,

Mrs. Rosalie Butler

Dear Mrs. Butler:
I wish to officially register my opposition to Preliminary Order
No. 258502, approved May 5, 1972, which proposes to construct a
, new sidewalk on both sides of Dieter Street from Idaho Avenue to
Larpenteur.
Following is a partial list of reasons supportin my oppsition
to the above proposal:
l. The designated area is only one {1) bl.ock long and,
therefore, cannot be considered a main thoroughfare.
2. It has come to my attention tnat; whi].e this proposal
was initiated by petition, more and more residents of
this one-block area have indicated they are against
a sidewalk at this time.
3• The proposed 3m rovement is in ar are, made up of
approximately rental property, iherefore, the
residents of this block can be described as "transitory."
I make note of this fact because children livin in
this area now could be gone next year or at some time in
the future.
I trust the above reasons, along with a cu,.znter petition initiated
against the propose@ improvement and si..ed b,y a subsi;antial
number of the people living on Dieter ;;treet, will weigh heavily
in the final decision as to whether or not tiis p.•:?posal is approved.
Thank you for giving this matter your cansideration.
Sincerely,
Melvin Pd, Dario

Dear Council President Butler
and Council Members:
The Council Committee on Public Works herewith submits
its recommendation for approval of the final order for con-
structing new sidewalk on both sides of Dieter Street from
Idaho to Larpenteur.
The Committee visited the site on August 14 and voted
approval at its meeting on August 16. The basis for this
decision is that the block is adjacent to Frost Lake School
and the sidewalk is needed for the safety of children walk-
ing to school and the outdoor activities of pre-school
children.
Yours truly,
Ruby Hu , Chairman
Council Committee on Public Works
