RE: Municipal Court Budget, Budget Y�ar 1972
Dear Mayor Cohen:
Please consider this as a request for the Levision of the above
described budget.
It •is now apparent that in order for this Court to properly
transact its= business during the remaining six months of 1972 ,
the total additional sum of $2 ,300 must be added to its
"Contractual S�ervices" accounts, vahich total should be divided
as follows : � .
$1,300 to Telephone Services (account #0630-202) , and
$1, 000 to Rental of Data Processing Equipment (account
#�630-242) .
As to the Data Processing Equipment, $1, 000 is needed as and
for rental of certain Teleprocessing Equipment (a Selectric-
based computer terminal) to be located in the Traffic- Violations
Bureau. This computer terminal will be linked with the State
Drivers License Division data bank for the purpose of making
the necessary drivers license record checks (an average of 150
daily) and will also communicate with the State Notor Vehicle
Registration Department data bank for the purpose of making the
necessary vehicle-owner checks (an average of 450 weekly) .
In effect, the computer terminal will replace the present
teletype system, a system which the State Drivers License
Division may soon be unable to continue to staff. ,
l�s regards the $1,300 figure for telephone services , this is
made necessary by reason of the recent increase in telephone _
rates, and the installation of several additional in�truments ;,�,
necessary to the conduct ot business .
