THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: SECTION I. > � , That Ordinance No. 15132, Council File No. 258$16, approved June 27, 1972, be and the same is hereby amended in the following particulars: In Section 1, _ following paragraph numbered 1.8, insert the following: 1.9 Planning � A. Planning Coordinator, appointment and aualifications. � � With the consent of the Council, the mayor shall appoint, a planning � coordinator, who shall be in the unclassified service of the ci�y and shall serve until his successor is appointed and qualified. He shall be __ _ _ ._ chosen on the basis of his education, experience and knowledge in the area of planning and development and shall have such other qua.lifications as ma.y be provided by ordinance. B. Duties. (2) Coordination of the planning activities of all other departments and agencies of the city to insure conformity with the comprehensive plan, to assist in its development, and to review and coordinate the comprehensive plan with the planning a ctivities of adjacent units of government and other affected public and private agencies. (3) Transmission to the mayor and city council through the planning commission of all recommendations, studies, plans, sections or amendments to such comprehensive plan as submitted by all departments and agenc;�es of the city and other affected public and private agencies, along with his analysis and recommendations. (4) Preparing and proposing to the mayor and city council through the planning commission reasonable, efficient and practical means of putting comprehensive planning into effect. Such means may include, but not be limited to: (a) a proposed official map, (b) a proposed zoning code, (c) subdivision regulations, and (d) a capital improvements program, in consultation with the budget director and the capital improvements committee. (5) Collection and distribution to the ma.yor, the council and other departments and agencies of the city of all necessary research materials on population and population trends, economic trends, and the social conditions of the various sections of the city as they relate to municipal planning and development, in consultation with the division of O�risinal t�Citt Qerk ' - = - �= - � - ORDINANCE -. � 259"�q2 � + . Such information shall include fact finding and analysis of the physical, social and economic needs of t�he city as required for the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive development plan. (6) Establishment of liaison with community groups, which ma.y, upon request of the mayor a.r the city council, provide planning recommendations for con- sideration within the overall plan of municipal development. (7) Preparation, as requested by the mayor or the city council, of reports of the activi- ties, plans and programs nndertaken by the coordinator and his staf f. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be deemed a part of the Saint Paul Administrative Code and shall be incorporated t�herein and given an appropriate chapter and/or section number at the time of compilation of said Administrative Code. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty days after its passage, approval and publication.
