WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Saint Paul did pass Ordinance No. 17321, on
January 7, 1986, wherin a fund to administer and distribute the proceeds contributed by
charitable gambling in on-sale liquor establishments was established; and
WHEREAS, The Youth Programs Fund Board established by said ordinance has reviewed and
recommended for approval the attached applications for grants from the above mentioned
fund; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves the attached
applications for funding from the following organizations for the following amounts:
American Legion Post #418
Broom Closet (The)
Boy Scout Troop #299
Dunning Boosters
Edgcumbe Comm. Center Hockey Bstr. Club
Hayden Heights Youth Alliance
Hillcrest Booster Club
Johnson Area Youth Activities Association

The fund was established to disburse proceeds from charitable gambling organizations to eligible community based
non-profit organizations which provide programs for Saint Paul youth. These organizations have been screened by the
Youth Programs Fund Advisory Board.
ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
Improved youth programs for:American Legion Post #418 (baseball program expenses); Broom Closet (cooking program
supplies); Boy Scout Troop #294 (summer camp activities), Dunning Boosters (baseball program expenses); Edgcumbe
Community Center Hockey Booster Club (ice time); Hayden Heights Youth Alliance (summer sports programs) Hillcrest
Booster Club (adaptive recreation progrem expenses); Johnson Area Youth Activities Association (storage locker, craft
kits, babysitting training manuals); Lexington/Hamline Community Council (neighborhood enrichment program); Lower
East Side Footbail Association (entry fees and transportaUon); Merriam Park Booster Club (basebali/softball programs);
Mighty Kids Inner City Hockey Program (skills development program); St. Paul Midway Little League (baseball program
expenses); St. Paul Police Explorer Post #454, BSA (regional & national conferences); St. Paul Science Fair Support
Group (summer quarter field trips & investigations); St. Paul Urban Tennis Program (scholarships); Sounds ofi Hope,
LTD. (insurance, rent & promotion); SuperClown Children's Art Gailery (scholarships); Venture Crew #613, BSA (first aid
training & re-chartering expenses); Youth Express (youth leadership program).
