DEPARTMENT OR PUBLIC WORKS

December 14, 1972
Mr. Ph i 1 Lee
Office of the Mayor ,
Room 347 City Hall
St. Paul , Minnesota, 55102
Dear Mr. Lee:
We have attached two Ordinances. One adds Point Douglas Road from the
south City Limits to its junction with T. H. #61 at unimproved Greenland
Ave, to the Truck, Route Ordinance. This is actually the route to inter-
change from southbound #494 to northwestbound T. H. #6) . We are investi-
gating possible geometric changes that would provide a connection sotherly
of the present route which would eliminate any truck traffic in front of
a few homes. They have complained to the Police Department about truck
enforcement. However, it seems this is an impossible or unreasonable
regulation to prohibit truck movements interchanging between two major
highways.
The other ordinance removes the two-hour meters on Second St. from
Wabasha St. to Jackson St. Actually, through a Traffic Coordinating
Unit authority, we have replaced the meters already with Two-Hour Parking
limit signs 8:00 A. M. to 6:00 P. M. The main reason for this is the
extremely high vandalism rate and a shortage of available meters,
Very truly yours,
