02-408Council File # �-�o� Green Sheet # � I 3 b �� RESOLUTION PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented bv �� Referred To Committee Date 1 WI�REAS, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Mimieapolis has admiuistered the Adopt-A- 2 Family program each Holiday Season since the mid-1970s -- serving families that cannot afford certain items around 3 the holidays, such as gifts, food, and other e�ras; and 4 WI�REAS, since its inception, Adopt-A-Fanuly has been wholly supported through the unselfish and dedicated 5 work of volunteers; and 6 WHEREAS, Mary Quigley has been an integral component ofthis program, serving as a volunteer worker since the 7 very early days and as a volunteer at the leadezship level since 1942; and 8 WHEREAS, in 2001, Mary and her volunteer team worked a total of 1,400 volunteer hours, which for them is like 9 a normal day at the office; and l0 WHEREAS, under her leadership it is estimated that the program has served over 6,200 families in the Saint Paul 11 azea and over 22,500 people in a11; and 12 WHEREAS, it is not uncommon each year for Catholic Charities to receive notes and cards thanking them for 13 "makingthisthebestCl�ristmasever,"whichwouldsurelynothavebeenpossiblewithouttheeffortsandleadership 14 of Mary Quigley; and 15 WHEREAS, Mary Quigiey is the hue figure of a volunteer with heart and soul -- serving the program and its 16 customers with dedication, grace, and with the humility of one who is truly there to serve others -- preferring always 17 to credit those around her; and 18 WHEREAS, although Mary is retiring from her leadership role with Adopt-A-Family, it is indeed well known that 19 she will continue to be a strong supporter of the program; and 20 O�_ y�� 1 WHEREAS, Mary's impact on our community has and will continue to be immeasurable in scope and magnitude -- 2 her leadership making each day simplq that much better for children, families, and anyone who ever has the pleasure 3 of encountering Mary's true vision of compassion; now therefore be it 4 RESOLVED, for her years of dedicarion and leadership, that Wednesday, May 8, 2dD2 be known as NfARY 5 QUIGLEYDAYin the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
