BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE S�ATE OF MINNESOTA: Seetion 1. Minnesota -Statutes 1971, Section 202.09, Subdivision 1 , as amended by Laws i973, Chapter 387, Section 1, is amended to read: 202.09 �UMINATING PETITIONS7 Subdivision 1. �UMBER OF SIGNERS_7 A petition for nomination of a candidate may be signed by electors resident within the district or political division from which the candidate is presented, as follows : (a) If for a state office on a state ticket , 'equal to one percent of the entire vote of the state cast at the last preceding general election, or 2, 000, whichev�r is the lesser; (b) If for a congressional or judicial district office , by five percent of the entire vote cast in the district at the last preceding general election, or 1 , 000, whichever is the lesser; (c ) If for a county or legislative office , by ten percent of the entire vote cast in the county, ward, or other election district at the last preceding general election, or 500, whichever is the lesser; (d) If for a municipal office , by two percent of the entire vote cast �a�-��a�-a���ee in the d.istrict at the las�t preceding munici,pal �eneral election, or 500, whichever is greater. . . f � . . . � � . ������ . . . r s. . ► � T � > Sec . 2. Minnesota Statutes 1971 , Section 202. 11 , is amended by adding a new subdivision to read : Subd. 2a. �IME OF SIGNING, MUNICIPAL OFFICES.7 Nominatin� petitions for. candidates for municipal offices may be si�ned and filed only during the period when affidavits of candidacy may be filed for the same office ; provided, that the period for si�nin� and filin� petitions shall be no'Cless than 14 da.ys . Sec . 3. Minnesota Statutes 1971, Section 205 . 15 , is amended to read: 205. 15 �ITY ELECTIONS, FILINU FEES� Unless the charter of a city provi.des the amount of the fee to be paid upon filing an affidavit of candidacy or nominatin� petition for city office the filing fee for city offices shall be as follows : (a) In first ,class cities , the sum of �20; (b) In second and third class cities , the sum of �Z ; and (c ) In fourth class cities , the sum of �2 .
