WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 272 .68, Subdivision 3, provides
tha.t political subdivisions of the state, in acquiring real prop-
erty, pa.y to the County Treasurer, to be distributed in the same
manner as property taxes, 30% of the rental received therefrom in
lieu of paying other real estate taxes; and
WHEREAS, The said Minnesota Statutes 272.68, Subdivision 4,
provides tha.t if such a political subdivision is the housing and
redevelopment authority acquiring the right to take possession of
the real property in a redevelopment area, such housing and re-
development autki.ority ma.y agree with the municipality in which it
is located, fixing the amount of payment in lieu of taxes as to
such properties; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby app�ove Agreement between the City and the Housing and
Redevelopment Authority of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota, pro-
viding for payment in lieu of taxes on leased, exempt redevelopment
property in accordance with the above statutory authority and pro-
viding tha.t the Authority sha.11 pay to the Ramsey County Treasurer,
to be distributed in the same manner as property taxes, 20% of the
rental received in each redevelopment project area in the year
1973 and thereafter unless amended by further agreement, and the
proper City officers are hereby authorized to execute the said
Agreement on beha.lf of the City of Saint Paul.

AGREEMENT ON PAYMENT
IN LIEU OF TAXES ON
LEASED EXEMPT REDEVELOPMENT PROPERTY
THIS AGREEMENT made and entercd into this day of ,
19 , by and between the
CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA,
a municipality organized and
existing under the laws of the
State of Minnescta, hereinafter
referred to as the "Municipality"
and
HOUSING AND`REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA,
an authority organized and existing
under the laws of the State of
Minnesota, hereinafter referred to
as the "Authority."
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 1971, Section 272.68, Subdiv�sion 4, provides that
where an Authority has acquired real property for redevelopment purposes and leases
the same temporarily for relocation purposes, the Authority may enter into an
agreement with the Municipality fixing the amount of payment in lieu of taxes as
to such properties; and
WHEREAS, the parties recognize that an Authority has legal responsibilities
in relocating occupants of property acquired by an Authority in a redevelopment
project,which responsibilities often require the lease of acquired property at a
loss to the Authority; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota, and the Housing and Redevelopment
Authority of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota, desire to enter into an agreement
respecting payment in lieu of taxes upon property acquired by the Authority and

thereafter leased for relocation purposes, all in accordance with the applicable
provisions of law; '
NOW, THEREFORE, the parties do hereby mutually agree as follows:
I.
When the Authority has acquired title and right to possession of property
in a redevelopment project area and leases the property to a previous occupant
for temporary use pending the relocation of the previous occupant's residence
or business or temporary relocation -of such former occupant in another property
owned by the F.uthority in such project area, the Authority shall pay to the
Ramsey County Treasurer, to be distributed in the same manner as property
ta-ies, twenty per cent (20%) of the re�ltal received in each redevelopment
proje�.t area in the year 1973 and thereafter, unless amended by future
agreement.
II.
Nothing in this Agreement is intended to alter the responsibility of the
Authority to make payments in lieu of taxes for property held for public housino
purposes under Minnesota Statutes, Section 462.585.
