MEMORANDUM TO COUNCIL
RE: Registered Bill Number B01733
Metropolita.n Tra.nsit Commission
This Registered Bill is the result of a. MTC bus striking
the sun shield of a traffic control signal located a.t the
Northwest corner of intersection of Snelling a.nd Randolph
Avezues. Investiga.tion reveals tha.t a crack in the base
of the signal wa.s rusted indica.ting that the cra.ck existed
prior to this a.ccident involving the bus; and, further,
that the sun shield on the signa.l extended past the curb
line on Randolph Avenue into the traffic lane. On the
basis of the above we recommend settlement of this
registered bill at 50% of the face amount thereof. This
office ha.s requested that the Traffic Engineer examine the
location of this traffic signa.l to determine if it should
be relocated fa.rther from the curb line on Randolph Avenue.
