Due to the seriousness of his injuries he was granted one year of full «JD time in accor@ance with Section 12.10 of the City Charter. On October 9 1973 the year of JDs expired. October 10 1973f the officer would have started to use his accumulation of sick leave he had 257 days on the September 28 1973 register. Mr. Paul McCloskey has advised me that those 257 da.ys should be used simultaneously with the "JD time. Therefore Mr. Karel will use his compensatory time 172 hours and his unused vacation. This is a lvss of one year sick time that the employee accrued and he was not aware that it would be taken away with the JDt1 time. Very truly yours . Richard H.
