MINN Presented by Referred To Green Sheet # 110393 Committee Date RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO A LEGISLATIVE ADVISORY COMIvIITTEE TO MAKE RECOMI�IENDATIONS FOR TI� NAIvIING OF A STREET FOR DR. MARTIN LUTI�R KING, JR. WHEREAS, Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. is known as one of the world's best voices for non-violent social change strategies for civil rights, voting rights and color-blind justice; and [� WIIEREAS, Doctor King's views, hopes and dreams were delivered to the world through his exceptional oratorical skills and personal courage; and WHEREAS, the Mayor of Saint Paul has expressed support for renaming a street for Dr. King in the City of Saint Paul, and the Saint Paul City Council passed a resolution on February 27, 2002, calling for a Saint Paul street to be renamed after Dr. King; and WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council passed a resolution on March 13, 2002 establishing a Legislative Advisory Committee to make recommendations for the naming of a street for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and WIIEREAS, this resolution stated that the membership of this committee shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the City Council and shall reflect the diverse population and interests of the City of Saint Paul; now therefore be it RESOLVED that Kerri Allen, Bob Battle, Art Blakey, Anne Briseno, Chazles McDonald, Matthew Mejia, Ed Robertson, Shari Taylor Wilsey, and Toua Xiong are appointed to serve on the legislative advisory committee to make recommendations for the naming of a sireet for Dr. Martin Luther King.
