WHEREAS, Pursuant to the terms and provisions of Minnesota
Statute 471.61, the City of Saint Paul may provide for health
and welfare insurance benefits for its retired employees and
officers who are entitled to benefits under any Public Employees
Retirement Act, and their dependents, and
WHEREAS, Pursuant to the above authority it is the intent
of the council of the City of Saint Paul to provide for all
early retirees of the City the right to retain the group health
and welfare coverages for themselves and their dependents at
their own expense, and
WHEREAS, The City Council wi5hes to provide this right
�� for all city employees who retire under an early retirement
��after July 31, 1973, and the City Council further recognizes
that due to necessary preparation and negotiations some delay
will result before a resolution can be acted upon granting
this right to all early retire@s; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That when the right to maintain health and welfare
eov�rages at their own expense is granted to all City of Saint
Paul early retirees by resolution, this right shall be effective
for all early retirees who retire�after July 31, 1973.
