WHEREAS, The City of Saint Pa.ul aeting through its Valuation En�ineer has
secured an agreement for the purchase of that certain property described as
follows:
The north 100 ft. of Lot four (4) Johnson Garders Lots lying between the
easterly line of the ta�est 125' and the westerly line of Battle Creek
Pa.rk.
Also, Except the West 125 feet; the following:
The North 25 feet of Lot three (3) and all of Lot four (�+) except the
North one hundred feet thereof Johnson's Ga,rden Lots, excepting there '
from that part thereof conveyed to the City of St. Paul in Book 782 of
Deeds, page 81 for park purposes.
Also, Fxcept the west 125 fe�t; the following:
That pa.rt of Lot Three (3), Johnson's Garden Lots, described as follows;
All of said Lot three (3) except the North Twenty-five (25) feet thereof
and except the Southerly One Hundred Forty (1�+0) feet thereof and except
that portion of Lot ��e (3) condemned by City of St. Paul for pa.rk
purposes and described as follows: Beginning at a point on the South line
of Lot Two (2), Sixty (60) feet East from the Southwest corner thereof,
thence West to said corner, thence North 41° 05' East, Six Hundred Fit'ty-
two (652) feet, thence North 80° 31' West, One Hundred Sixty (160) feet,
thence North 25° 51' Zaest, One Hundred Ninety-si.x (196) feet, thence North
19° 00' East, Two Hundred Sixty-one and nine-tenths (261.9) feet to a point
on the North line of said Lot Four (4), Three Hundred Fifty and Three one-
hundredths (350.03) feet West of the Northeast corner of said Lot Four (�+),

WI�REAS, The property described therein is necessary for the expansion of
Battle Creek Park, and the price at which the property may be purchased is at
the total amount of $8,185.79, a fair and reasonable price according to the
appraisal obtained by the City Valuation En�ineer; and
WI-3EREAS, The City Valuation Engineer has recommended the purchase of said
property at -�he priee stated above, as evidenced by his report submitted here-
with; no�s, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, 2hat pursuant to Administrative Ord�r No. D-635, dated May 21,
1973, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby authorize the purchase
of the above described land, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the proper City officials are hereby authorized and
directed to pay to Vernet B. and Roselee C. Larson� record fee awners, the aum
of �8,185.7�-, said sum to be paid to the aforesaid vendors from PSR Fund Cod.e
60000-502-Ot�O, (L-7561), to be reimbursed from Fund 93771-460-016, upon their
furnishing evidence of good marketable title in the aforesaid vendors, and the
total payment to be made upon tender by said pa.rties of appropriate deeds convey-
ing title to said prop�rty to the City of Saint Paul.

and Members of the City Council
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Mayor of the City of S�int Pa.ul by his order, Administrative Order No.
D-635, dated May 21, 1973, directed that the Department of Finance and
Management Services proceed to acquire certain lands for the expansion of
Battle Creek Pa.rk.
Pursuant to such direction, I, in �y capacity as City Valuation Engineer,
have secured an agreement with Vernet B. and Roselee C. I,a.rson, owners of
land required for the said project, for purchase of their land for compen-
sation in the amount of $8,1.85.79 which in my opinion is a fair and reasonable
price. Therefore, it is recommended to the Council that it authorize the
purchase of this property in lieu of condemnation at the price of $8,185.79
as negotiated with the owners.
The property herein recommended to be acquired is more particularly described
in the resolution submitted herewith for your consideration and action.
