WHEREAS, citizens of the City of Saint Paul have indicated an increased
desire for use of public streets within the City of Saint Paul for bicycle
transportation; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of appropriate bicycle routes on public streets
and thoroughfares will be in the public interest and contribute to a decrease
in air pollution, parking and traffic congestion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul that the Mayor of the
City of Saint Paul is hereby requested to submit to the Council a feasibility
report exploring specially-marked bicycle lane alternatives including, but
not limited to:
a) the far right lane of one-way streets being striped for exclusive
bicycle use
b) use of specially-designated streets for bicycle traffic
c) recorr�nendations for specified hours and calendar schedule for
limited-use bicycle lanes.

Madam President Hunt & City Council Members:
Please be advised the Commaunity Services Committee at its meeting
of June 14, 1973, adopted the following motion with regard to
Councilman Butler's resolution requesting the Mayor to submit a
feasibility study explas�ng specially marked bicycle routes:
The committee supports the resolution with the
understanding the report be done by alreadq existent
City agencies and the Council establish an appropriate
time for the submission of that report to the
City Council.
Please be further adnised the committee felt a goal for possible
implementation of the program, if adopted by.,the Citq Council, ww ld
be Spring of 1974.
