WHEREAS, the first "Mayor's Snnunit on Cultural Relations" will be held in Saint Paul at the Radisson
River&ont Hotel and Conference Center on Monday, March 18, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the suuunit will be the first citywide dialogue of the new century and will offer all of us an
opportunity to discuss the opportunities and challenges of a growing and diverse community; and
WHEREAS, the summiYs goal is to reach out beyond the leadership of any single community of color to
neighborhoods and the broader community so citizens can work together to make our city a better place to
live, work and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has requested corporate, foundation and participant contributions to offset the cost of
the suimnit for facilitators, facility use and lunch, and other important needs; and
WHEREAS, this event is free and open to the public; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, anticipates that there will be funds
of $15,000 auailable for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2002 Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends the following changes to the 2002 budget;
