Dear Mr. Marshall:
Many thanks for your consideration in sending me a resolution
adopted by the St. Paul City Council in su pport of the Ramsey
Action Program.
As you may know, I have been deeply concerned about the
efforts of the Nixon Administration to close the Office of
Economic Opportunity, transfer economic opportunity programs
to other federal agencies , and halt the fundinq of Community
Action Programs.
I am encouraged by recent court decisions that the law must
be upheld and that the Administrative dismantlinq of OEO
programs should be terminated. The Congress has passed
continuing appropriations for these programs . and additional
legislative action will be forthcoming with respect to future
funding.
You may be assured of my ongoing efforts to enable the
continuation of these vital programs.
With best wishes .
Sincerely,
Hubert H. Humph ey
