WHEREAS, a fine of $200 was imposed on the Cigazette/Tobacco icense held by UC
General Store for the premises located at 1919 University Avenue in Sai Paul (License ID#:
980003491) for the violation of sale of tobacco products to a minor on ugust 30, 2001 pursuant
to Council Resolution #O1-1071; and
WHEREAS, a copy of the Resolution was provided to th licensee by the Office of
License, Inspections and Environxnental Protection and licens was advised that they had until
November 9, 2001 to pay the fine; and
WHEREAS, the fine was not paid, and a letter w s sent to the licensee by the City
Attorney's Office advising them that if the fine was n paid by December 12, 2001, that the
matter would be placed on the city council agenda f suspension of the license until such time as
the fine was paid; and

February 13, 2002, City Council Consent Agenda. Appazently, a new owner has taken over the
location without notifying the licensing office as to when this occurred. The licensing office is
currently trying to determine which party - the new owner or the former owner - is responsible for
the cigazette violarion before they proceed with adverse action. Therefore, we ask that the matter
be withdrawn from fiuther consideration by the City Council.

Third Floor, Saint Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse.
Since you have failed to pay the fine imposed by the City Council on October 10, 2001, this
matter is being set back on the Council agenda to suspend your Cigarette/Tobacco license until the
fine is paid.
