Service Bureau of the City of Saint Paul, approving and adopting
rules and regulations therefor, "
approved August 20, 1914, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 3250, approved August 20, 1914,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out
• Secti,on 35C, which reads as follows:
"C The head of the department shall grant leave of absence without pay
to enable an officer or employee to take in the City service an elective
or appointive position exempted from the classified service. Such
leave may be granted for a period extending over the time of actual
and continuous service i.n such position or positions. At the termina-
''� tion of the elective or exempt service such officer or employee shall
` be reinstated to the classified service in his former position or in a
� position in the same class and grade as the position held by him at
the time of appointment or election to the exempt office subject to the
existence of a vacancy; and provided further, that such reinstatement
shall be without lo s s of s enio rity. "

"C The head of the department shall grant leave of absence without pay to
enable an officer or employee to take in the City service an elective
position. Such leave shall be granted for a period extending over the
time of actual and continuous service in such elective �osition or
positions. At the termination of the elective servi.ce such officer or
employee shall be reinstated to the Classified Service in his former
position or in a position in the same class and grade as the position
held by him at the time of election, subject to the existence of a vacancy;
and provided, further, that such reinstatement shall be without loss of
seniority.

position exempted from the Classi.fied Service. Such leave shall be
granted for a period extending over the time of actual and continuous
service in such position or positions. At the termination of the exempt
service such offic�r or employee shall be reinstated to the Classified
Service in his former position or in an equivalent position without loss
of any right or privtlege that would have accrued to him had he not left
his former position, including but not limited to any salary or fringe
benefit i.ncrements ca��ruai� to such position during the leave, except
for accuxnulating service credit for police or fire pension unless the
exempt position is i.n the police or fire service, respectively; and
provided, further, if such a current position is not funded at the time,
the City Council shall provide such funding. "

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty
days after its passage, approval, and publication.
