WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 211.20, Subdivision 4,
requires, among other things, that financial statements
of cand.idates for elective office "be filed with the
proper fil�ing officer" of the municipality and,
WI�REAS, Section 17.02 of the Charter requires
the city clerk to maintain files of all city ordinances,
resolutions and charter amendments and,
WHEREAS, the city clerk' s office has historically
and customarily been the place for the filing of d.ocuments
required by law that may and should be available for
public viewing, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the city clerk is hereby designated
the custodian�of all financial disclosure statements,
expense statements and other related documents filed by
candidates for elective office or political parties.
