RESOLVED, That Maria Group Home be and hereby is
granted a permit to operate a group home on property
located on the west side of Maria between Plum and
Cherry, more particularly described as follows :
Southeast 40' of Lot 2, W. J.
- Godfrey' s Subdivision A;
subject to the condition that said applicant-permittee,
and its successors and assigns, shall make due compliance
with all applicable provisions of municipal ordinances,
state statutes and rules and regulations of public author-
ities having cognizance.

Dear Sir:
This is written in response to the application of Maria Group Home for
a permit to operate a group home on property located on the west side
of Maria between Plum and Cherry. This property is further described
as follows:
Southeast 40' of Lot 2, W.J. Godfrey's Subdivision "A'
This matter was heard by the Board of Zoning on January 24, 1974. The
staff report was given for this matter and staff recommended approval of
the permit. The attorney for the applicant stated that this facility has
been operating for over a year and there are six girls there now. It is
licensed by the State of Minnesota for up to seven girls.
A motion was made and seconded to recommend approval of the permit. The
motion carried unanimously.

Maria Group H ome is owned anci operated by the
Sisters of the Good Shepherd, 5100 H odgson Road,
St. Paul, Mn. 55112. There are si.x (6) girls
living at Maria Group H ome and Sister Helen
Louise Roth is the Supervisor. There are two (2)
additional staff who relieve Sister Helen Louise
on Thursday and Fridays which are her days off.
There are six (6) girls and one (1) staff inember
making a total of seven (7) who occupy the Group
Home.

A. HISTORY: There is no zoning history for this site.
B. AREA ZONING: The area is primarily "B" Residential with some "C" Residential,
mostly along Mounds Boulevard.
C. FRONTAGE AND AREA: The site has a frontage of 40 feet on Maria and a depth of
120 feet, for an area of 4,800 square feet.
D. STANDARDS: Location of boarding houses in a "B" Residential district is allowed
with a public .hearing and Council Special Use Permit.
E, PROPOSED ZONING CODE: This area is proposed to be zoned RT-1, which would a11oW
no more than ten group home residents in excess of the persons allowed by the
definition of "family",
F. SITE CONDITIONS: The site contains an older home in excellent conditon,
G. AREA CONDITIONS: The area is developed with large older single family homes
and duplexes. Properties in the area are generally well m�intained.
