Local elected officials are defined as elected executive and legislative officials as well as elected local judges, county attorneys and sheriffs. The Region G Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, which is appointed by the Metropolitan Council, serves as the regional advisory council for the seven county Twin Cities Area. This committee's primary functions are to assist in the preparation of a regional component of the State Criminal Justice Plan and to advise the Metro- politan Council and Governor's Crime Commission on the allocation of Safe Streets Act monies within the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. It is our intention to achieve compliance with the new LEAA guidelines on Committee membership when the terms of our current Region G Committee members expire on January 15 , 1974. In rto ompi with the federal regulations and ensure balanced local governmental rep:esentation, the Metropolitan Council is requesting local governmentofficials and bodies in the Metropolitan Area to recommend appointees to the Region G Committee. Reguiations of the Governor's Crim Comis-io: provide that individuals may serve on either a regional advisory council or a local criminal justfce coordinating council such as exists in Ramsey and Hennepin Counties , but may not serve on both of these bodies. Please keep this in mind in considering recommendations for appointment.
