Fdward LaFromboise , Director for Appellant . PROCEEDINGS : Mr. LaFrom�oise stated that they woulci liIce to g�t a waiver on t;�e partitions on the second floor of this half-way house . He had a rouQh draft of the floor plan, which he exhibited to tile Board, shoiaing the wall that separated the room and the nassageway, and the general lay out of the premises . He stated the code prohibited going through these rooms to go to the b�.throom. It was suggested �hat they remove the wall w�ich would make tIle rooms a dormitory type tning. This was an apartment the �,ray it was nresently set up. One room was a kitchen, and it �ras being made `into a bedroom. Also , they were making enough room {�� , for peonle that they had in m�nd to occuny this facil�ty. They would like to obtain � waiver on this because presently there was nothing in their bud�;et to allow them even to take out the wall on the e�.st side to make t?�is a dormitory tyne style _f_acility. Also , they .felt that it taould weaIcen the buildin� by taIcint; out this taall . Thev ' did not know ho�a the studs �ere in tIlere and feared that it would. wea?:en the structure. Immediately across the hall�Jav was the sa?ne situation here, the wall as the partition separatinQ thz rooms with the bathroom beyond. They were , theref_ore , ask_ing f_or a waiver on t��is wall also . TaFromboise replied two -- these tJOU1d be the east and Urest sides o� the building. Thev were apartments , they ►�ere asking not to. remove the �aalls in c{uestion, because tlie occupants were all males . As far as they � were concerned, they could not see anv problem in one mal�sgoing through ' another male' s bedroom to go to tlze bathroom. A�r . Albert, which has been delayed earlier in the meeting, since - Building Inspector Amey had now returned to the meeting. � . 1�1r. Amey was briefed on the earlier discussion, which had taken place regarding changes to be made at the premises . hZr. Amey stated that the Building Code requirement was a technical one, and that they had no objection to the use af the premises in the matter described. A�Ir. Voigt then D70VED that the appeal be granted under the condition that the building be continued to be used only as a half-way house in the matter described. b4rs . Sommerdorf asked if the letter of December 13, 1972 , attached to the application form regarding sprinklers , held any current relevancy. Mr. Amey stated that the matter in Question regarding the installation of sprinklers under the boilers was no longer a rectuirement under the new State Building Code . .. Mrs . Peake seconded the motion. THE MOTION WAS CARRIED.
