1 VJHEREAS, Mitch's Lounge has been located at West Seventh Street and South Victoria Street in the heart of the
2 West Seventh neighborhood for 32 yeazs; and
3 WHEREAS, Mitch's is a third-generation family business begun in 1965 by Herman Mitch, who was succeeded
4 by Bob and Kate Mitch, and, next, to their son, Chuck Mitch, aided by brother Bob and sisters Cathy and Maureen,
5 truly keeping the "family" in "family business"; and
6 WHEREAS, Chuck has proven to be a true Saint Paulite, having been a West Seventh resident for all of his years,
7 including being educated at Cretin High School, the University of Saint Thomas, and, his proudest achievement,
8 being in the Golden Gloves, where he fought in 17 professional fights without a loss; and
9 WHEREAS, over the yeazs, Chuck has shown his true colors through several acts of charity, including loaning his
10 personal car to a man and his daughter (strangers to him) who were on their way to the Shrine Circus, but had no
11 transportafion when their caz broke down (he even gave them $10 in gas money....); and
12 WIIEREAS, Mitch's has served a Christmas dinner for 15 years, free of charge, to approximately 1,500 people,
13 growing over the years to include toys and ciothing for children; and
14 WT3EREAS, many people may not realize that Chuck has successfully created and marketed his own brand of
15 bazbecue sauce, "Mitch's Seventh Heaven Barbecue Sauce," and many local retailers carry this heavily-sought
16 product; and
17 WIIEREAS, Chuck is a true friend to all who know him, is completely tnxsting of people (sometimes too much!),
18 and has extended this kindness and generosity to many people from all walks of life; and
19 WHEREAS, Chuck is a tireless supporter, promoter, and believer of the City of Saint Paul, even recently rimning
20 for City Council; and

3 NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul declazes Wednesday, February 6, 2002 to

6 in the City of Saint Paul; and
CHUCg MITCH DAY
7 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul wishes Chuck a long and happy
8 retirement.
