WHEREAS, safe and efficient residential streets are vital to a city's
transportation system and the character of a neighborhood is affected by
the visuat impact of this system, and
WHEREAS, frequent interchange between the community and its planning,
engineering and tegislative personnel is integral to effective decision
making, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works, under the direction of the
Mayor, and in association with the City Planning and the Finance Department,
has developed plans for a twenty-year improvement program for residential
streets called the Residential Street Revitalization Program and has assembled
an audio-visual presentation which clearly outlines the objectives and
working details of the Program, now, therefore, be it
RESOL!lED, That the Council of the City of St. Paul hereby wholeheartedly
recommends that a11 St. Paulites take the opportunity to view this slide
presentation when it is shown at neighborhood community meetings in order to
evaluate the Residential Street Revitalizatiorr Program and offer their opinions
and advice in this matter of city-wide concern and importance, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Public Works Department is directed to report
back to the Mayor and City Council the results of the community meetings and
also recommendations regarding the program.

The attached Council Resolution asks the City Council to re wmmend to
the citizenry that they take the opportunity of viewing the Public Works
Department slide presentation of the Residential Street Revitalization
Program whenever it is shown at neighborhood community meetings.
It is our understanding that a showing of this presentation is now
scheduled for the City Council meeting on November 27th. Also attached
is a suggested introduction to the slide presentation which you might
care to use.
